Find Us
“You’re on Justin!” Jolie ran as fast as she could. Her backpack bobbing side to side with her strides.
Justin, her big brother by a year, always let her win but he would put on a good show of having her think that he might catch up. It was his way of not only getting home quick but being able to keep an eye on her at all times. However today things would be...different.
As they got halfway across the large field, a sea of fog began rolling in. Jolie didn’t pay it much mind at first but then she heard extra footsteps behind her and Justin. She turned to ask her brother if he also heard that and in the distance she saw other children running. Charging right at them! She squinted to get a better look when she felt Justin yank her back to reality.
“Jolie, go!” He urged with wide eyes.
Jolie had never seen her big brother scared so with out hesitation she clamped onto his hands and they took off. But when they turned to run in the direction of their neighborhood they found that now dozens of small tombstones now stood peaking out of the fog in all directions.
“Find us. Find us. Find us.” The children chanted while running faster and faster
“Justin, we're almost home!” Jolie was in full panic now. It felt as if any moment one of the strange kids would latch on to her or her brother.
Finally, they reached the end of the graveyard and made it onto their street. The children could still be heard chanting. Stumbling over themselves the siblings made it up their front porch steps when they stopped dead in their tracks. A single orange rose lay on their welcome mat with “Find us” written across their door. On either side of the words were small orange handprints. Justin spun around to see a little boy and girl holding hands at the end of their driveway wearing tattered clothes.
“Find us.” Their voices sounded as if they were right next to him somehow.
“Are you kids alright?” Their mother opened the door. Both Justin and his sister ran past her and slammed the door.
“I think I know what happened to those missing kids from my social studies report.” Justin panted and collapsed to the floor.

The House
As the clock struck midnight, Jane sat alone in her dimly-lit room, trying to focus on her writing. But the silence of the night was broken by a faint tapping on her window.
